Call to Order

The Board of Trustees of the Town of Deer Trail met in a regular session on Tuesday August 9th, 2022, at the Town Hall, 555 Second Ave Deer Trail, Colorado. Mayor Behrens called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Roll Call

Mayor: Judd Behrens

Trustees Present: Josh Hendricks, Heather Kerin, John Kettling, Gerry LaMont, Byron Mounce

Staff Present: Ali Eldringhoff Town Clerk

3. Approval of the Agenda

Trustee Hendricks moved; Trustee Mounce seconded the motion to approve the agenda with the following changes, removing item 9B motorcycle rally and adding item 7C nuisance ordinance and 7D motorcycle rally. Adding 9B part time job. Voting went as follows.

Yes: Hendricks, Kerin, Kettling, LaMont, Mounce, Behrens
No: None
Abstain: None
Absent: Ramirez

The mayor declared the motion carried.

4A. Approval of the regular meeting minutes

Trustee Behrens moved; Trustee Hendricks seconded the motion to approve the regular meeting minutes for Tuesday July 12,2022. Voting went as follows.

No: None
Abstain: None
Absent: Ramirez

The mayor declared the motion carried.

6. Approval of the Bills

Trustee Hendricks moved; Kerin seconded the motion to approve the bills. Voting went as follows.

8A. Nuisance Ordinance

Trustee Hendricks moved; Mounce seconded the motion to table until we can talk to both Susie and Corey and get clarification on how to move forward. Voting went as follows.

8B. Birch and 7th

Trustee Mounce moved; Trustee Hendricks seconded the motion to deny Mr. Musselman's request for the town to vacate a portion of 7th and Birch. Voting went as follows.

8C. FM Antenna

Trustee Hendricks moved; Trustee Kerin seconded the motion to table FM antenna until we hear back from the engineers who built the tank to make sure it meets weight requirements. The voting went as follows.

9A. OT Football

Trustee Kerin moved; Trustee Hendricks seconded the motion to approve a $500 donation to the Deer Trail boys football team. Voting went as follows.

9B. Part Time Job

Trustee Hendricks moved; Trustee LaMont seconded the motion to add a part time maintenance position and advertise it in the 1-70 Scout for 2 consecutive weeks. Debbie will conduct interviews and is responsible for deciding upon a pay rate. Voting went as follows.

Public Comment

Kip the executive director of REAP introduced himself and stated that he is the head of all the economic development from Aurora to Deer Trail and would love to answer any questions or just be of service to Deer Trial. Stephan Hashbarger expressed his continued concern about his water bill. Phil expressed concern about the Deer Trial USPS, he explained they have very limited hours and that something needs to be done.

Mayor Behrens Adjourned the meeting at 9:02 p.m.
