Ordinance Number 175

An ordinance providing for the amendment of Ordinance Number 161 and Ordinance Number 165 regarding the sanitary sewer serviced rates and sewer tap charge:

Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Deer Trail, Colorado that: 

Ordinance Number 161 dated November 11, 1982, and Ordinance Number 165 dated January 10, 1985, are hereby amended to read as follows:

Section 11. Sanitary Sewer Service Rates

  1. Residential User
    • Each dwelling unit is defined as one or more rooms constituting a separate independent housekeeping unit for permanent residential occupancy by humans, with facilities for cooking, eating, and sleeping, and shall include rooming or boarding houses which have not more than four (4) roomers. (Includes mobile homes, house trailers, and apartment houses.) Each dwelling unit will be charged $7.00.
    • Motels will be charged 10 cents per 1,000 gallons of water used through the water meter servicing the premises. (An on-site manager living on the premises shall be considered as living in a residential dwelling and the charge therefor shall be in accordance with the charges for a dwelling unit.)
  2. Commercial, industrial, educational and all users other than residential will be charged $7.00 per unit. 

If in the sole opinion of the Board of Trustees, any user creates an excessive burden on the sewer system by reason of the type and quantity of discharge into the system, the Board reserves the right to assess additional reasonable charges to compensate the Board for the additional maintenance and service requirements.

Section 12. Sewer Tap Fees

  1. Residential Users.
    • First dwelling unit: $1,000
    • Each additional dwelling unit: $1,000
  2. Commercial, industrial, educational, and all other users based on the size of the water meter used at the premises:
    • 5/8- or 3/4-inch water meter: $1,000
    • 1 inch water meter: $1,200
    • I 1/4-inch water meter: $1,300
    • 1 1/2-inch water meter: $1,500
    • 2-inch water meter: $2,000
    • Over 2-inch water meter: negotiated.

This ordinance shall take effect July I, 1991.
